THE WAY OF THE CROSS
Come and
die.
die.
Die to self. Live in Christ. This is not a threat; it is the doorway to resurrection life.
Jesus does not invite us to add Him to a life arranged around comfort, control, and self-protection. He calls that life to the cross. What rises with Christ is not a diminished version of you. It is a life no longer ruled by fear, appetite, image, or the need to have your own way. What emerges is a life free to tell the truth, receive grace, obey Jesus, forgive, remain when relationships become costly, and give itself away in love.
We do not cling to the life Christ has called to the cross. Sacrifice is not emptiness for emptiness’s sake. It is an emptying that makes room for life. Resurrection life is the life of Jesus taking shape in a people. It is a becoming. As the self-ruled life dies, His life becomes visible in us.
THE LIFE WE ARE PURSUING
Not branding. A
shared rule of life.
shared rule of life.
These are not six claims that we have perfected. They are six commitments we return to together.
01
Presence over performance
We gather to meet with God, not to manufacture a moment. Worship is for Him. Prayer is the battle.
02
Scripture with teeth
The Bible is not background material for a motivational talk. We open it to be confronted, guided, and remade.
03
Holiness without hiding
Grace welcomes us as we are. Love refuses to leave us there. We bring our whole lives into the light of Jesus.
04
Community that costs us
Church is shared life: serving, forgiving, carrying burdens, telling the truth, and staying when it would be easier to leave.
05
Disciples, not consumers
We are not collecting attenders. We are becoming apprentices of Jesus who learn His way and obey His words.
06
Mission with names and faces
People in hard places are not a cause we visit. They are neighbors, family, and part of the life God has called us to share.
BALTIMORE IS NOT OUR BACKDROP
The city is our assignment.
The mission is close enough to interrupt our schedules, enter our homes, and cost us something.
FREEDOM
Walking with people out of addiction
Through Adult & Teen Challenge and the MIRA Home, men and women step into long-term, Christ-centered recovery, discipleship, and community.
FORMATION
A safe place for children from hard places
Hope City Christian Academy loves and educates students from hard places, helping them become rooted disciples of Jesus.
